Happy Halloween to all! Hope your week is filled with spooky fun.
A super big tree hug from all of us in Alder East, to all of you who came to our Roots of Responsibility Day Friday. What a great day. The kids did an outstanding job educating their fellow school mates about some of the most invasive weed species in our area. Students from all grades mapped their roots on a giant "Where are your roots?" map. Signifying how as humans travel and migrate, so do seeds (whether we want them to or not).
The Alders also planted a number of trees around campus donated by Four Mile Nursery. The capstone was planting a small Alder tree where three paths meet just outside our classroom. Our campus continues to transform and become more green by the minute. Other classes planted native species on our berms that flank our lovely path around school. What a great place to learn and grow. We are so lucky.
This is a short week. Tuesday will be our last student contact day of the week, followed by two days of conferences. Friday is a teacher work day. We will begin the day by watching a movie on dyslexia as a staff. If you have not signed up for a conference yet, please check out the sign up sheets outside the Bee Keepers office.
Tuesday afternoon we will celebrate Halloween with a small party in our classroom. Please check your email for details on what you can do to help make the festivities a success. Thank you to Ronda Corless and Michelle Urton, in advance, for your efforts in planning. Any and all parents are welcome to join us tomorrow afternoon. Set-up begins at 1:45 in Alder East.
